A Professional Learning Community
The Australian Science & Mathematics School (ASMS) has embraced the challenge of transforming schooling to prepare young people for their tomorrow. We are committed to supporting our students to develop agency in their learning and realise their potential, not be limited through standardisation of education. Since opening in 2003 we have had an unrelenting focus on creating a school culture and learning design that supports student-centred teaching approaches. The ASMS interdisciplinary learning design is driven by our commitment to supporting students to understand and deal with societal issues and problems that require ways of thinking and working from across traditional disciplinary boundaries.
This presentation outlines our approach to learning design and school structures that support this work.
