The Team

Kylie Eggers

Principal

Kylie leads the Strategic Direction of the ASMS through her enthusiasm for a deep understanding of learner and stakeholder needs and perspectives, and the engaging ways which they can excel in achieving their goals through the Department for Education’s vision.

Dr Matt Verdon

Deputy Principal

Matt's role focusses on leading the creation and maintenance of a positive school culture that supports all students and staff to flourish. This permeates every aspect of the school, from how staff teams work together, how learning spaces are used, how learning is designed, accessed and assessed and how students can best be supported to be well to learn.

Lara Lang

Director Professional Learning

Lara leads the professional learning programs at ASMS. Her knowledge of professional learning processes and measuring impact through action research, mentoring and education research underpins her role in building capacity of staff at ASMS and state-wide. Lara has supported teachers and school leaders across South Australia through contextual professional learning programs.

Dr Alix Verdon

Senior Leader Interdisciplinary Science & School Partnerships

Alix leads interdisciplinary learning design with a focus on Science. Her deep knowledge of Australian Curriculum and SACE underpins her work in leading innovative learning design in a senior school context.

Sophie Braun

Senior Leader Learner Analytics & Interdisciplinary Mathematics

Sophie leads interdisciplinary learning design with a focus on Mathematics. She supports teachers across the ASMS to design and implement high-quality, innovative Mathematics learning. Sophie’s role also focuses on the collection and analysis of curriculum-based data to inform teaching and learning at the ASMS.

Lisa Pope

Leader Learning Design

Lisa leads an interdisciplinary teaching team in planning and teaching the ASMS Year 10 & 11 Central Studies program. Her knowledge and experience in optimising opportunities of the Australian Curriculum, SACE and TfEL frameworks underpins the innovative approaches to teaching and learning at the ASMS. Lisa has supported teachers and school leaders from across South Australia and Australia to design learning programs that engage and challenge students in their context.

Tisha Beasley

Leader Learning Design

Tisha leads an interdisciplinary teaching team in planning and teaching the ASMS Year 10 & 11 Central Studies program. Sam Moyle

Leader Learning Design

Sam leads an interdisciplinary teaching team in planning and teaching the ASMS Year 10 & 11 Central Studies program. Her expertise in dynamic approaches and development of general capabilities dovetails with the Australian Curriculum and SACE standards to create an engaging framework for interdisciplinary education that inspires passion for learning. Sam is recognised for her work in developing teacher capacity to engage learners through novel and sometime quirky learning pathways that enhance connection and coherence.

Nikki Asikas

Coordinator Innovative Systems and Processes

Nikki leads innovative systems and processes to ensure quality assurance of learner management and school reporting systems. Nikki provides expertise in effective communication skills which enable her to support staff to utilise data effectively and achieve collective goals.

Coordinator Learner Engagement and Growth

Adnan Abu-ajamieh

Coordinator Numeracy Development and Learner Agency

Adnan leads the development, organisation, integration, and review of numeracy across the school to build learner agency in line with the Site Improvement Plan. His role includes supporting students to develop their capacity to gather evidence and monitor their numeracy growth and transfer including Mathematics and Numeracy Evidence of Learning (MNEoL) records. Adnan also works collaboratively with key leaders to monitor and improve the ASMS student Passion Project program. In addition, Adnan supports further development of student outreach programs to capitalise on learner passion and agency in STEM such as Primary Mathematics Extension Group (PMEG).

Ben Mattsson

Coordinator English and Humanities

Ben’s leadership focuses on development and innovation in teaching and learning in the areas of English and Humanities – both within the ASMS’ interdisciplinary Central Studies curriculum, and at Year 12. As part of his role, Ben works with teachers to build their understanding of curriculum and pedagogy in English and Humanities, as well as their capacity to utilise their knowledge and skills in these areas to support and empower all students to be successful.

David Cowen

Coordinator Inclusion and Learning Support

Jesse Atkinson

Coordinator Literacy Development

Jesse builds teacher confidence and capacity to use evidenced based literacy development strategies in learning design. Trained in LEAP, he leads a cross subject teaching team in identifying student’s literacy levels and determining strategies to support learners’ literacy development. Jesse has worked as a coach and mentor with teachers and school leaders from across South Australia and Australia.

Amanda Brook

Coordinator Innovative Pedagogies

Amanda’s leadership is about promoting, modelling and empowering staff to use innovative pedagogies – ways of teaching and learning that support extraordinary student learning. Amanda provides expertise in mathematics and innovative pedagogies and has an ongoing contributing to the Initial Teacher Education STEM programs at Flinders University.
