The Team

Jayne Heath

Principal

Leading improvement and innovation at the ASMS for 19 years, Jayne is passionate about building teacher, leader and school community capacity. Her principalship has focused on building a culture that empowers a school community to be future focused, creating a learning environment that supports students to flourish in a complex, changing world.

Glenys Thompson

Deputy Principal

Glenys’s role focusses on leading the creation and maintenance of a positive school culture that supports all students and staff to flourish. This permeates every aspect of the school, from how staff teams work together, how learning spaces are used, how learning is designed, accessed and assessed and how students can best be supported to be well to learn.

Jodi Gordon

Director Professional Learning

Jodi's leadership focuses on the professional learning within and beyond the ASMS. Jodi coordinates and ensures all programs enable educators to further develop the skills, knowledge, understanding and practice to support students to engage in extraordinary and life-long learning. Jodi also contributes to Flinders University Initial Teacher Education External Advisory groups and education research initiatives.

Dr Alix Verdon

Senior Leader Interdisciplinary Science & School Partnerships

Alix leads interdisciplinary learning design with a focus on Science. Her deep knowledge of Australian Curriculum and SACE underpins her work in leading innovative learning design in a senior school context.

Dr Matt Verdon

Senior Leader Interdisciplinary Mathematics and Learner Analytics

Matt's leadership focuses on supporting teachers across the ASMS to design and implement high quality Maths learning. Matt has extensive knowledge and understanding about how data and learner analytics can be used to inform learning design. Matt delivers the Flinders University Initial Teacher Education Curriculum Studies program in mathematics and contributes to the broader ideas and strategies for mathematics education state-wide.

Jesse Atkinson

Coordinator Literacy Development

Jesse builds teacher confidence and capacity to use evidenced based literacy development strategies in learning design. Trained in LEAP, he leads a cross subject teaching team in identifying student’s literacy levels and determining strategies to support learners’ literacy development. Jesse has worked as a coach and mentor with teachers and school leaders from across South Australia and Australia.

Tisha Beasley

Leader Learning Design

Tisha leads an interdisciplinary teaching team in planning and teaching the ASMS year 10 & 11 Central Studies program. Her knowledge and experience in optimising opportunities of the Australian Curriculum, SACE and TfEL frameworks underpins the innovative approaches to teaching and learning at the ASMS. Tisha has supported teachers and school leaders from across South Australia and Australia to design learning programs that engage and challenge students in their context.

Amanda Brook

Coordinator Innovative Pedagogies

Amanda’s leadership is about promoting, modelling and empowering staff to use innovative pedagogies – ways of teaching and learning that support extraordinary student learning. Amanda provides expertise in mathematics and innovative pedagogies and has an ongoing contributing to the Initial Teacher Education STEM programs at Flinders University.

Simon Illingworth

Leader Learner Agency and Future Pathways

Simon has knowledge and experience in designing learning programs that support students to develop agency and plan for their pathways. Simon has established quality assured school structures and processes that enable students to pursue alternative pathways to university study through the development of portfolios of evidence related to their capabilities and readiness for transitioning to higher education. He is passionate about designing learning that connects students to authentic contexts through working with industry and university.

Lisa Pope

Leader Learning Design

Lisa leads an interdisciplinary teaching team in planning and teaching the ASMS year 10 & 11 Central Studies program. Her knowledge and experience in optimising opportunities of the Australian Curriculum, SACE and TfEL frameworks underpins the innovative approaches to teaching and learning at the ASMS. Lisa has supported teachers and school leaders from across South Australia and Australia to design learning programs that engage and challenge students in their context.

Marcus Roberts

Coordinator Digital Literacies

Marcus leads the development of school-wide programs and procedures that support teaching teams and students to build digital fluency across all areas of the ASMS curriculum. Marcus is a Microsoft Innovative Educator – Expert, and has supported teachers and school leaders from across South Australia and Australia in learning design reflecting evidence based approaches to using digital technologies that personalise learning experiences and develop learner agency.

Dr Andy Stone

Leader Learning Design

Andy leads an interdisciplinary teaching team in planning and teaching the ASMS year 10 & 11 Central Studies program. His knowledge and experience in optimising opportunities of the Australian Curriculum, SACE and TfEL frameworks underpins the innovative approaches to teaching and learning at the ASMS. Andy has supported teachers and school leaders from across South Australia and Australia to design learning programs that engage and challenge students in their context.

Cat Stone

Leader Learning Design
