University Pathways

Secure your place at Flinders University

90% of our students progress to university, and over 70% in a science-related field. But achieving an ATAR is no longer the only way to enter university. There’s many different ways to get where you want to be.

Portfolio Accreditation for Tertiary Entrance (PATE)

Our Year 12 students benefit from a range of alternative ways they can enter university, in addition to their ATAR. Under the Portfolio Accreditation for Tertiary Entrance (PATE) arrangement with Flinders University, ASMS students have been accepted into a wide range of degrees, avoiding end-of-year exam stress.

The portfolio approach is an authentic way of demonstrating university readiness, allowing students to demonstrate their capabilities by way of problems solved and challenges overcome.

Because of how I was doing with my work, and the feedback from teachers, I knew by Term 3 that I was definitely going to get into my preferred Uni course. I know that I got in based on my achievements, rather than the ATAR which really just compares how you’re ranked to everyone else.
