In the Body in Question Central Study students have been investigating many interdisciplinary aspects of the Brilliant, Beautiful Body: artistically drawing a proportional body, exploring cultural perceptions and body image, understanding that the amazing things the body can do is what makes it beautiful, having empathy for our varying abilities, and promoting the social, emotional, and physical aspects of body health. All students have even been engaging in a body-aware stretching program and recording their hamstring and shoulder flexibility after warm-ups each session. We were delighted to hear from ASMS alumni Rainey Towell, who spoke about what living with a disability is like in real life to encourage us to embrace and understand our different abilities.
Our next module of learning is titled Going Viral, where we will explore the body’s immune system and perform statistical analyses on viral spread. Ask your student what they have enjoyed the most from our first 2 weeks of Body in Question!
