Enrichment Opportunities

The Australian Science and Mathematics School (ASMS) offers the chance for students to engage in enrichment opportunities throughout their time here. These opportunities can help to cultivate students’ interest in particular subjects, build their knowledge and skills, and prepare them for future academic and career pursuits. The opportunities promoted at ASMS can take many forms, including workshops, competitions, research projects, mentoring, conferences, exhibitions and more and are in the fields of STEM, numeracy, literacy, individual sciences, cyber and development of learner attributes.

So far this year some students have had the opportunity to attend the official launch of the Making Her Mark conference at the Convention Centre where they heard from a panel of successful women in STEM careers and networked with women from multiple industries. Currently, all ASMS students are working together in their Learning Studies group to create a Citizens of Science project for the Oliphant Sciences awards. We have also had several students participate in the Hamann School Mathematics Competition 2023 where the top 10 students in the state win a monetary prize.

Enrichment opportunities play a vital role in the education and development of Australian Science and Mathematics students. They provide students with valuable experiences that challenge and inspire them. Opportunities are frequently updated on the Enrichment page on the portal. Be sure to encourage your student to check it here out regularly.
