On Thursday, Week 6 this term two Year 10 students James and Ewan participated in the Australian Maths Trust Australian Informatics Olympiad competition. We are proud of their collaboration and problem-solving skills for the 3-hour competition where they invented algorithms and wrote code to solve problems. The Bronze award in the Intermediate Division that they won was just the icing on the cake. Well done!

UN Youth Evatt Debating and Diplomacy Competition
ASMS students, Ryan and Stas made it through 3 rounds of UN Youth Evatt Debating and Diplomacy Competition and were quite competitive in the Grand Final, unfortunately they did not make it through to nationals in Canberra, but it has only ignited a passion for preparations for next year’s event. We are so proud to see them both justify their claim and advocate for global changes demonstrating a range of Learner Attribute development.
“Competing in The Evatt Competition has been a great experience for us. We have really enjoyed meeting new people, public speaking and debating, gained an understanding of different cultures and perspectives, and collaborated with others to get stuff done. Making it to the Grand Finals and spending a day at Parliament House debating in the real chamber has been a highlight for both of us. Although we didn’t win, we are still very proud of how far we made it, and we are excited to participate again next year.” (Ryan & Stas)
