On October 23, 7 Students from the ASMS Certificate III Information Technology took part in the World Skills Competition. Our students are competing against other Certificate III IT students from across the state for the chance to represent SA at the National Competition in Brisbane in 2025. WorldSkills International (WSI) promotes the benefits of and need for skilled professionals through grassroots community projects, skill competitions, and knowledge exchange through international cooperation and development between industry, government, organisations, and institutions.
Our regional competition heat was held at TAFESA Tonsley with Industry providers Ben from Data#3 and Sean, Head of ICT at Pembroke judging and presenting heat awards. Students undertook 10 tasks including the following;
- Manipulation of graphics file formats
- Integrating the graphics into organisational documents according to design drafts
- Design and development of an instruction in accordance with enterprise style guides or practices’
- Design and development of an information presentation using a PowerPoint slide show in accordance with a draft and specification
- Research and recommend organisational software
- Install an operating system on a PC (Virtual PC)
The results across all students were very close, with only 1.5 points between 1st and 3rd for the heat.

These students now await the completion of other heats across the state to find out their state ranking.
