ADF Careers Talk
An ASMS Alumni, Flight Lieutenant Darpan ‘Dev’ Dhawan, is coming back to ASMS to share his experience of working in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and other career pathways through the ADF. He will also talk about how ASMS helped prepare him for his career, ADF Academy entry, STEM focussed roles within ADF and what subject selections might be important in school. Unlike career expos, this is a great opportunity to hear from someone who has been in your shoes and walked the journey to now work in the ADF.
This will happen in Week 9 Tuesday from 12:20pm and is open to Year 10s, 11s and 12s but will be opt in only, regular CS Connect will run for those who don’t wish to attend.
If students would like to opt in, please discuss with parents, LSG teacher and complete the EOI form, which will also provide a chance to raise a question about ADF careers.
Unsure about what careers are available? Visit the ADF website.
2026 Combined Adelaide University Course information
Adelaide University (formerly UniSA and the University of Adelaide) has released study guides for their 2026 courses, they include pathway options, scholarships, mixing degrees, advice on careers from degrees and some courses have a guaranteed ATAR released.
Please follow the link and do some research into any courses you might be interested in.
AI CareerChat
The Student Pathways website has been working on an AI model for Careers called CareerChat.
Instead of googling your careers questions, you can now use CareerChat for a more specific experience. This may also help you bring researched content to any pathways discussions you have with your LSG teachers, mentors or school leaders.
CareerChat uses generative AI to support student’s exploration of career education. It is a new resource that helps to answer student questions about education and training options, and the world of work. CareerChat is secure and user information is stored in the Department for Education’s secure data storage. Guardrails are in place with filters and rules that prevent the unintended provision of information. This ensures only career education related questions can be asked, and responses are tailored to a student’s year level. CareerChat is a valuable career pathways resource designed to prompt thinking and ideas for avenues of further investigation. It is important for students to check the facts provided, particularly details related to tertiary or Vocational Education and Training (VET). Students are encouraged to share their CareerChat experience with their teachers, careers education leaders, and family members.
