Primary Maths Extension Group 2022

The Primary Mathematics Extension Group is a two-term program run by the ASMS for primary-aged students throughout South Australia. The purpose of this program is to develop inquiry skills, show that mathematics is interdisciplinary and can be found everywhere and promote a love of learning mathematics.

Over the past two terms our ASMS students have planned and facilitated this program for 70 primary students from schools all across South Australia. ASMS students delivered workshops on a variety of mathematical concepts and mentored the primary students to develop and explore an inquiry question based on this year’s theme: Art in Mathematics: Beauty through Numbers. In Week 7 the primary students will be presenting their research at the ASMS International Science Fair.

The ASMS student volunteers have been wonderful ambassadors for our school and have received countless positive comments from the participants, parents and educators in attendance.
