Welcome to the middle of Term 1 at the Australian Science and Mathematics School.
EMS transition and close out days:
In the next few weeks, our school will be transitioning to a new Education Management System (EMS) (from EDSAS). This mandatory change promises enhanced information access, a more user-friendly interface and increased efficiencies across the administration of the school. Key leaders and support staff have been undertaking training in the new system in the last few weeks.
During the transition, there may be brief periods of adjustment. One aspect of this is the ‘close-out’ 19-21 March 2025 where we will not be able to process payments until the new system is live 24 March 2025.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make this process as smooth as possible.
Medical Forms:
To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, I would like to remind you of the procedures regarding medication at school. If your child needs to take medication during school hours, please be aware of the following requirements:
- Medication Administration Form: If your child needs to take medication while at school, a completed Medication Administration Form must be submitted. This form provides us with the necessary information to safely administer the medication.
- Self-Carry Medication Form: For students who need to carry their medication in their bags, a Self-Carry Medication Form is required. This form ensures that students who are capable of managing their own medication can do so responsibly.
Both forms are available at Front or Upstairs reception. Please ensure that these forms are completed and returned to the school as soon as possible if applicable to your child.
Activities Day:
The super-hot weather held out and the ASMS Activities Day came together filled with energy and enthusiasm. Students and staff participated in a variety of events, including the tug-of-war, spelling bee, running races and ultimate frisbee showcasing their skills and Learner Attributes. The day was a great opportunity for students to engage in healthy competition and enjoy the camaraderie. A special thank you to all the staff and students who helped make the day a success.
Curiosity in the Community (CIC) Week:
Year 10 & 11 students now know their allocated activities for Curiosity in the Community Week and consents and invoices for camps will be sent out at the end of this week. Consents and forms for other excursions will occur later in the term. Please note that Year 12s have normal lessons during CIC Week.
ICT and Media Consent Forms:
At the time of writing 113 student’s media and ICT consent forms are overdue. Without these forms, their access to our ICT system may be limited when it doesn’t need to be. If this relates to your student please check your email for the forms and return them ASAP.
Staff news:
Please join me in extending ASMS’s heartfelt thoughts and well-wishes to Richard Greig as he undergoes surgery and begins cancer treatment in the coming weeks. Rich, we are here to support you every step of the way.

Principal
