Year 12 Holiday revision sessions: Year 12 students and families have been emailed the available revision/ work sessions during the Term 3 holidays. Students, please ensure that you sign in when you arrive and leave.
Year 11 Pathway Choices: Our Year 11s are currently considering their learning pathway for Year 12 and the Web Preferences survey is due Friday 27/9/24. I’d like to iterate that the Year 12 learning program is interdisciplinary, however the extent to which the students explore these links is up to them. Interdisciplinary learning in Central Studies supports students to identify links between the subjects in the Year 12 courses.
As presented to the students and to parents the range of choices include:
- Complete 4 teacher designed subjects and explore the links mainly themselves with some support from teachers.
- Codesign 1 subject and complete 3 teacher designed subjects and explore the links mainly themselves with some support from teachers.
- Complete a mix of codesigned and teacher designed subjects which gives the scope to design learning to create an interdisciplinary program. E.g. is there a subject you would love to do half of? Is there are subject you’d love to do, but you want to do it your way? This can happen! However, it all needs to be indicated on the forms provided in the links provided to the students.
Topping Out at Tonsley: Last Friday I had the privilege of attending the Tonsley Technical College Topping Out ceremony which celebrates the last beam (or its equivalent) being placed atop a structure during its construction. (Traditionally Scandinavian builders would hoist a pine tree to the top of framed out buildings: when the pine needles fell off, the builders knew the wood frame below had cured/dried out so they could enclose the building.) The Tonsley Technical College, a campus of the ASMS, is currently accepting enrolments for Years 10 & 11 for 2026 in the Industry Training Programs of Energy & Auto, Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering and, Building & Construction.
