The ASMS sent a team of 18 student-athletes to the Secondary Athletics Championships on Wednesday 6 of April, competing against 12 other schools in division F1/F2.
Despite being one of the smallest teams at the meet, our students outperformed even their own expectations and brought home a staggering amount of individual wins in the F2 division. Our school placed 3rd overall out of 6 schools in this division on 220 points, behind Gawler on 267 and Mark Oliphant on 438. This was all the more impressive for having only three senior secondary year levels against schools double our size.
Our team took home wins in various age groups for the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 110m hurdles, 1500m, 3000m, 2000m Steeplechase, High Jump, Discus, Javelin and Shot Put, with some winning all of their allocated events and Daniel setting a meet record for the 1500m.
Congratulations to our team listed below, including those who helped out with results on the day: Aston, Jess, Kaiya, Torben, Jane, Jack, Daniel, Ben, Conrad, Daniel, Talisha, Raja, Dorsa, Blake, Ruby, Michael, Charlotte and Carmela.
