Communication Systems

Time for a quick quiz from Communication Systems…

  1. Does the music being listened to impact reaction time?
  2. Does fatigue increase or decrease grip strength?
  3. Does the promise of a reward increase reaction time?

Students in Communication Systems are currently wrestling with these (and more) questions. They have designed the method, collected and analysed data, then evaluated their findings and method as part of a collaborative inquiry. With nearly fifty different investigations being conducted at the same time, it has meant some busy lessons as groups collect their own data and volunteered as subjects for other investigations.

This has required students to learn new vocabulary, inquiry skills, some data manipulation and presentation skills. It has been very pleasing to see high levels of effective collaboration as students work to build their understandings together.

And the answers (so far):

  1. Faster music seems to slow reaction time.
  2. Does not seem to make any significant difference
  3. Does not seem to make any significant difference
