Future Pathways

The focus for Term 3 becomes very much about understanding pathways and future studies beyond the 4 walls of the ASMS. The Year 10/11s have an introduction to the wide variety of opportunities for further study looking into courses both here in South Australia (SA) and interstate and have visits from the 4 main universities in SA during Learning Studies. This helps them shape decisions relating to year 12 subjects taking into mind prerequisites subjects for university entry. They also have the opportunity to hear information relating to alternative pathways to university through Portfolio Accredited Tertiary Entrance (PATE) and the Flinders Assessment centre that can offer students guaranteed entry into certain courses based on evidence rather than awaiting an ATAR result. Information on these pathways is available on our school portal, or by contacting your young person’s Learning Studies teacher or Simon Illingworth at the school.

The Year 12s have are starting to think serious about 2022 and the focus is very much about providing high quality information so they can make informed decisions about their futures. The universities have been invited into the school to share their courses and present key information. The Year 12 are about to find out how to make selections including how to apply to South Australian Tertiary Admission Centre (SATAC) and rank course selections.

The universities are also having their Open Day weekend approaching, Friday 20 and Saturday 21 August. We strongly encourage young people and their care givers to attend either on campus or virtually to gain information and obtain a feel for what the various universities offer.
