Principal’s Message

Last week at the ASMS we hosted our 17th International Science Fair (ISF). It was a week of exploration, fun and immersion in Challenged Based Learning activities! Students were highly engaged throughout the week, being able to participate in excursions to places including Art Galleries, Universities, STEM Laboratories, Museums, airports and to observe the night sky. There were lots of hands-on learning activities too, giving students the chance to use some leading edge technologies used in STEM and science research. We connected with 11 schools from across Australia and the world, navigating different time zones to share in the challenges and learn about different ideas, perspectives and contexts. A key intention for our ISF is to deepen our intercultural understanding. Through exploring problems and challenges together we have been able to learn about how other cultures view the world and the approaches and barriers they need to contend with in their situations. I thank everyone involved for embracing the opportunities offered through our 17th ISF event.

Our Year 12 students are now nearing the end of their schooling, this week they have had the opportunity to practice sitting exams in preparation for the end of year assessment process. Teachers and students will use this experience to determine strategies that will support each student to do their very best in what remains of their 12th year of schooling.

So back to normal school this week and getting ready for our Learning Conversations. I look forward to hearing student reflections on their learning and plans for how they will be able to reach their learning goals.

Take care everyone & keep keeping safe.
