This week our ASMS have participated in the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre Cyber Range at Lot Fourteen for a cybersecurity Capture the Flag Competition (CTF) with Join Palo Alto Networks.
We had 12 students compete, with one team placing 2nd and another 4th which is a wonderful result for our students.
In this competition, our ASMS students were able to gain an understanding of the fundamental tenants of network security and review the general concepts involved in maintaining a secure network computing environment. The teams also learned how to describe general network security concepts and implement basic network security configuration techniques on Palo Alto Networks Virtual Firewalls and other consumer, small business, or enterprise security devices.
This was an incredible opportunity for our students to learn and familiarise themselves and network in the industry experts and CTF enthusiasts, and we can’t wait to see how this experience will benefit them in the future.
A special thanks to Richard Greig and Sarah Hollinshead for facilitating this opportunity.
