As part of the central study Sustainable Futures, the year 10/11 cohort examined the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out by the United Nations and participated in the school’s Earth Summit event.
The students were split into two regions and were further sorted into smaller groups representing a specific country. They then selected the top 3 concerns facing their selected country and came up with solutions based on evidence and research. During this process, they were able to reach out to other groups, discuss strategies, and form alliances so they could create solutions to approach each global goal. These findings were then produced on a poster, scripted into a presentation, and then shown to the other countries in their region.
To conclude the 2021 Earth Summit, each region took to a vote. Out of the four groups, A1, A2 and B2 voted chose Climate Action (goal 13) while B1 voted for Clean Water and Sanitation (goal 6).
