To finish off the semester, the students of Order from Chaos were building their science inquiry skills by learning about why a detailed method is so vital.
Each student was asked to draw a duck and pin it up on the board. Then they were asked to draw another duck, this time from a side view with a green head, grey body, brown chest, and orange feet and beak and pin it to the board to compare it to the first drawing.
As soon as the instructions became more detailed, you could really start to see all the differences and similarities across the drawings. This highlighted the importance of detailed methods in scientific writing where the method must be replicable in order to achieve identical results.
