Work Experience in 2024

Our new staff member, Jason Backler is the go-to individual for all Work Experience inquiries. With his extensive experience and industry knowledge, he will guide students through the process of securing valuable on-the-job training. Students can also approach other members of the Work Experience team, Kay Gillett, Debbie Smith and Kylie Eggers for information or support.

Together, we will provide ongoing support and mentorship throughout the experience of finding a site but will encourage student agency when securing a workplace site. Whether you are seeking a placement in STEM (Science, Technolgy, Engineering, Maths) or any other field, the team is committed to helping students find meaningful work experiences that will enrich their education and prepare them for success in their future careers.

Students can organise Work Experience as a Passion Project (Thursday afternoons), during Curiosity in Community Week 13-17 May (Term 2 Week 3) or during Holiday breaks. Special exceptions can be negotiated for short periods during school term.

There is paperwork and training that has to be completed before immersing in work industries.

Further information can be found here on the portal.

Jason can be contacted at Jason.Backler@asms.sa.edu.au or at his pod in LC5.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with the experts in Work Experience and take control of your future!
