Our ambassadors have returned from representing the ASMS at the Australian Science Fair at John Monash Science School in Melbourne. Here is more about their experience at this event.
“During Week 7 Rani and I had the opportunity to go to John Monash Science School Australian Science Fair and present our research poster to like-minded students who share a love for science and a passion for learning.
Day one involved participating in a STEM challenge where I made friends with the interstate students from around Australia and presented our poster during a science poster exhibition. We also had the chance to walk around and inquire about projects made by other students. On day two we had an opportunity to go on a city tour to the state library and the Melbourne Museum and day three was the closing ceremony.
The highlights of this trip were meeting the interstate students and seeing the passion for STEM in the primary school students.” – Nicole
” A key highlight within the trip was the chance to interact with students across the entirety of Australia, where we conversed about our differences and our common experiences.
I’ve learnt an incredible amount, especially from the students who presented, an example being that it’s important to get a sustainable resolution to a problem by gathering data, rather than trying to implement short term solutions.
We had the opportunity to present our research on the question of “What are the links of post cardiovascular intervention and mental health within both rural and metropolitan regions?”. We presented in front of a group of JMSS and interstate students and shared our research findings on a poster.
After the presentation, people from the public inquired about our poster and overall research. This was an amazing opportunity for which I’m extremely grateful for.” – Rani
