Fort Richmond Canada Study Tour

Our trip to Canada was an incredible adventure filled with diverse experiences and memorable moments. Our Trip began in Winnipeg, where we spent our first week with our homestay families at Fort Richmond Collegiate.

During our time in Winnipeg, we attended the FRC Science Summit, with students from the UK, The US and other parts of Winnipeg. The week focused on sustainable farming with a large focus on science. During the week we heard from different experts from the University of Manitoba which provided us with valuable insights into testing water and soil levels, agriculture practices, and the role of animals in supporting sustainable farming. At the end of the summit in groups we were given the opportunity to design our own sustainable farms and prepared presentations to showcase our designs and ideas backed up by the knowledge we gained during the week.

With our Homestays we did many activities both as individuals and meeting up as a group. Some of the activities included the Assiniboine Park Zoo, to see the Polar Bears and other Canadian animals, Heebie Jeebies, a festive Halloween Horror Mazes and shopping in Canadian Malls. After an immersive and memorable week with our homestays we left Winnipeg for Toronto to drive to one of the world’s greatest natural wonders of the world, Niagara Falls.

On our first night at Niagara Falls we had the privilege of going on a night cruise around the falls which concluded with a stunning display of fireworks over the falls. Our other days at Niagara were spent traveling behind the falls, crossing the border to the New York State side to experience the falls from the other side, experiencing all the attractions around the falls such as go karts and the Ferris wheel, and to conclude our trip Skylon Tower which gave a stunning view of both the Canadian and US falls in one. – Sophia
