Our wonderful students built on from their Diwali celebrations last year and have been planning the ASMS Multicultural Day since Term 1.
Held on Wednesday Week 4, this event included a cultural dress parade where countries from our cohort were represented. There were multicultural educational workshops where students learnt greetings from each other’s cultural backgrounds, played some traditional games, practiced henna designs, and in true ASMS style they explored the origin of maths and science concepts.
This group also organised food stalls during lunchtime featuring cuisines from Nepal, India, Japan, Indonesia, Greece, Thailand, Vietnam, Poland, Holland, and Pakistan to raise funds for our Service Club. The Void was buzzing with traditional dress and colourful conversations between students learning about foods close to their hearts. We would like to send a big thank you to all of the students in the Multicultural committee, their families who assisted with cooking and bringing food to school, and all of the staff that made this day possible.
This was a brilliant way to celebrate diversity within our school, we are so impressed by our learners for leading this initiative.
