National Reconciliation Week

To mark the end of National Reconciliation Week, the Australian Science & Mathematics School (ASMS) held an assembly where our Principal, Kylie Eggers and our Inclusion & Learning Support Coordinator, David Cowen addressed the staff and students.

Kylie began the proceedings by delivering the Acknowledgement of Country and expressed what reconciliation means to her. David then spoke to the cohort about the history of National Reconciliation Week, the significance of the 1967 referendum, the Mabo decision, and what this means for us collectively, looking to the future.

Each class then went back to their learning studies group where they talked about what reconciliation means to them, read through the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and were encouraged to learn more about the indigenous history of the areas in which they live.
