In Week 7, the ASMS hosted the first Primary Mathematics Extension Group (PMEG) session of 2024. This exciting event saw 120 Year 5-6 students from 27 schools across the state come together to explore the theme, “Decoding the World with Mathematics.” The session was led by a group of ASMS students who developed and presented hands-on workshops to explore some of the different ways mathematics is seen in the world around us.
Over the next term, the PMEG program will involve ASMS students mentoring primary school students to engage in several mathematics workshops and develop their own inquiry projects. These projects are set to be showcased at the International Science Fair poster presentations in Week 7 of Term 3.
The hard work of our ASMS student volunteers was evidenced in the engaging workshops presented, and they should be very proud of their efforts.
