It was fantastic to meet all the Year 5, 6 and 7 students from across the state who joined us at the ASMS for our annual Primary Maths Extension Group event!
This year’s theme is, Art in Mathematics: Beauty Through Numbers, which gave these kids the chance to delve into the question: does a knowledge of mathematics help us appreciate the beauty in art and music?
We had some fantastic themed groups this year which included: Picasso Cubism & Maths, Fractals von Koch, Fibonacci Sequence and the Golden Ratio, Giotto di Bondone and M.C.Escher presented by each group.
Our student mentors had a wonderful time hosting this group of young maths enthusiasts at the ASMS, and we can’t wait to see what inquiry questions they develop when they create their digital poster in Session 2.
