Our students and staff have achieved outstanding results through their participation in Phage Hunters, a new module of our Interdisciplinary Central Study called X and Why?
Phages are viruses that infect and kill bacteria, and their use in phage therapy is a growing area of interest due to rising antibiotic resistance. They’ve discovered a number of novel phages with the guidance and support of Professor Rob Edwards, his team from the FAME lab at Flinders University, and colleagues nationally and internationally.
These achievements have led to our students presenting their findings at the upcoming COMBINE symposium and preparing scientific papers for publication. Thank you to The Advertiser for interviewing our students about this incredible achievement.
